Vortrag: Johannes Uhl (GIZ): The Energiewende – boosting co-operation and innovation
Abstract:
In his presentation, Johannes Uhl will present the current energy policies of Germany and the European Union as well as major results from it in terms of economic development, innovation, job creation, and climate protection. He will also present various international initiatives in the field of sustainable energy policy, such as in the framework of the United Nations. Finally, he will present and appreciate activities of co-operation in this field between China and Germany.
Speaker Profile
Johannes Uhl is an international energy policy expert at Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. He advises the German Federal Foreign Office on the intersection of the global and German energy transitions and foreign policy.
Previously, Johannes Uhl worked at the regional economics ministry of the German state of Thuringia, dealing – inter alia – with regional energy and innovation policies. His experience furthermore includes working in the Directorate-General for Communications at European Parliament. He holds an MSc degree in Democracy and Comparative Politics from University College London and an undergraduate degree in physics and political science from Freie Universität Berlin.
